An Olympic Dream

An Olympic Dream

Races don’t go to the swift, but to the best prepared. 'At the Olympics, running and swimming have the maximum medals, but India is nowhere in these sports. 'We have over a billion people, a huge potential talent base, so why can’t we win? Because our system is flawed,' says Karan Singh, 27. A victim of the system, Karan had to give up promising careers as a cricketer and athlete. He returned to the country with a dream to teach India how to run.

Amar Nath Rai, 28 | Kena Village, Mansarovar Garden, Delhi

“After Arvind Kejriwal’s appeal, thousands of volunteers from across the world have poured into Delhi to help the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). We are expecting 7,000-8,000 more. They have left their jobs and families and are here to work for change, offering my house to them is the least I can do”

On a daily basis, half-a-dozen AAP volunteers come to stay in Amar Nath Rai’s narrow house. The three-member family and the volunteers share four small rooms.
